Song Sketches

Without You Here - "A very image-oriented piece that paints a vivid picture of locations, weather, feelings, and the reasons for those feelings."

The Things That You Don't Hear - "A moving mid-tempo song. The lyrics take a handicap and show how it can be viewed as an advantage."

Can Sally Ann Come Out To Play? - "This catchy country tune sings about the girl next door. An engaging story-line that holds your attention to the last word."

I Miss You - "A tender mid-tempo country song with the singer begging the singee not to make any mistakes because they are truly and deeply missed."

Last Tender Kiss - "This tender heartwarming song takes a look at a moment and a feeling that can easily last a lifetime."

Too Big For Hugs - "Watching your kids grow up is a joy, but when they get too bigs for hugs, it can be rough on mom and dad. Steve has nailed this secret fear that parents have."

Acapulco Bound - "This light-hearted island-flavored song will lift you from the dumps and transport you to beaches filled with warm senoritas, cold margaritas, and tropical breezes. What a delightfully fun novelty tune."

I've been a serious writer for about twelve years now, and played guitar for about thirty-five (never professionally). I've been a member of Songwriter's of Wisconsin International (SOWI) since 1998. Over the years, I've won 27 awards in the annual SOWI contests, including three straight first place awards in the Lyrics category (2004-06). I've been a finalist twice in the "Songwriter's Monthly" Magazine's "Words By" Lyric Contest, a semi-finalist in the Great American Song Contest, and last year I co-wrote the winning entry (with my friend Cindy Johnson) in the Yale University-Rudd Center contest dealing with obesity issues. I had a co-written song recorded on a Ray Sanders compilation album, three songs on the album of a fellow aspiring writer, John Paynter (aka Johnny Sonique) and I've had two other songs published. I'm always eager to explore creative opportunities with other writers so, please, feel free to contact me!
